Galletué Lagoon is 30 kilometers from Lonquimay, in Chile's Araucanía Region, and it is where the Biobío River is born.
The lagoon covers about 1,000 hectares, and its water is known for its clarity and abundant fish. To check the fishing season dates and requirements, visit http://pescarecreativa.sernapesca.cl/
The shores of Galletué Lagoon are covered by forests of araucaria, lenga, ñirre and coigüe. Among the birds that come to feed and nest here are the upland goose (avutarda), the Chiloé wigeon (pato real), the yellow-billed pintail (pato jergón), the Chilean pigeon (torcaza) and the coot (tagua), among others.

A few kilometers away is Icalma Lake; together they are part of the watershed that feeds the Biobío River.
