Cuesta Las Raíces is a must in the Araucanía Andina: a mountain road that takes you from Curacautín to Lonquimay through hills covered in araucarias, with beautiful views of Lonquimay volcano.

Summer:
In summer, Cuesta Las Raíces is open to traffic and is ideal for connecting with untouched nature, among ancient forests that invite you to stop and get away from your routine.

To make the most of it, you can rent bikes in Malalcahuello or Lonquimay and ride this amazing route at your own pace.
Winter:
In winter, Cuesta Las Raíces is transformed and covered in white, making it a treat for winter sports lovers. The road stays closed during the winter season, and you can only drive from Lonquimay up to the Los Arenales sector.

There is plenty to do in winter: build snowmen with the kids, have a snowball fight, snowboard down amazing slopes among araucarias or go snowshoeing.
