Corte Criollo Festival 2026: Curacautín's Great Feast
If you love good food and southern Chilean traditions, mark your calendar: on January 24 and 25, 2026, Curacautín fills with smoke and flavor at the long-awaited Fiesta del Corte Criollo (Asado Criollo Festival).
The event has become one of the must-stops of summer in the Araucanía Andina. Unlike other traditional festivals, the star here is the art of the asado (Chilean barbecue). The best grill masters in the area gather to show their skill with cuts of meat cooked over open fire using traditional techniques, with smoky flavors and textures that only the southern fire can give.
What to expect at the festival
- Top-quality food: tastings of the best criollo cuts, served with local products such as native potatoes, pebre (Chilean salsa) and southern-style sopaipillas (fried pastries).
- Live folk music: traditional music and dances throughout lunch and the afternoon.
- Local makers' fair: crafts in wool and wood, and preserves, ideal for taking home an authentic souvenir from the Andes.
Details:
- Date: January 24 and 25, 2026.
- Place: Curacautín (town center / fairgrounds).
- Entry: usually free (food and drinks are paid inside).
